Job Information

Job Duties: 

Working under the direction of the Slavic Studies Librarian, the candidate will assist with the sorting and bibliographic checking of monographs and serials from East European and Eurasian nation-states, perform pre-order bibliographic checking using a range of online and print resources, assist with the general review of the East European Studies collection. The student assistant will help with the updating the library guides under the supervision of the librarian. And all other library tasks as assigned.

Required Qualifications: 

Russian language fluency, ability to speak, read and write.

Attention to detail, and punctual

Ability to follow instructions, work independently, and refer questions to supervisor

Microsoft Access, Excel, and Word. Basic HTML

Ability to bend, stoop, and lift boxes/books weighing up to 30 lbs

Desired Qualifications: 

Reading knowledge of Armenian or Turkic languages of Central Asia and Caucasus

Reading knowledge of other European language like French, German or Spanish

Experience using library research tools, including familiarity with Oskicat and Melvyl

Knowledge of Library of Congress classification system
