Job Information

Job Duties: 
  • Assist Japanese Acquisitions Library Assistant by receiving the library resources (print, audio, visual, and other formats), both purchased and donated, in the Library Integrated System called Millennium 
  • Create and print and glue bookplates in MS Word for the gift items
  • Type and create a label with a special device (label maker) in Japanese for the audio & visual cases 
  • Check the duplicates in OPAC (OskiCat) before receiving the gift items
  • Operate a book jacket cover machine in the office for art books 
  • Help mail sorting job occasionally
Required Qualifications: 
  • Native level of writing and reading Japanese
  • Ability to Romanize Japanese words correctly in alphabets
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office programs (minimum of Word and Excel)
  • Comfortable with using Windows operating system
  • Ability to lift boxes (each box is limited to up to 25 pounds or less)
Desired Qualifications: 
  • Familiarity of Hepburn romanization (i.e., chi not ti)
  • Ability and willingness to perform multi-tasking
  • Attention to details
  • Able to differentiate title, author, and publication Information in the library’s resources
Special Notes: 

This position is only for Monday to Friday only. No weekend work is allowed. 

The work has to be done during the hours when EAL is open to the public.

The work has to be done in the EAL's technical services' department room.
