This job will take place during regular business hours. Photographers will occasionally be asked to cover evening and weekend events.

Job Duties: 

The Library Communications Office is looking for a photography intern to join our team. Photographers will gain experience and portfolio work through event coverage, portrait photography and documentary storytelling. This position is ideal for students studying photojournalism or new media, or people with personal photography experience. Candidates will be asked to provide examples of their photography work. Photographers will make photos of everything from the staff, students and scholars who make surprising discoveries in our Library spaces, to stories about how unique Library materials came to be and are currently being used, to stories about how the Library advances innovation on our Berkeley campus. Photography interns will receive editing and feedback from the Library's Photo+Video Editor.

Required Qualifications: 

Knowledge of Photoshop or Lightroom. Ability to take documentary approach to assignments. Ability to edit and output photos in timely manner. Ability to gather and write accurate, compelling caption information. Portfolio of photography work that demonstrates experience with visual storytelling.

Desired Qualifications: 

Ability to write short copy block to accompany photos desired, but not required. Experience with video desired, but not required. Experience and/or interest in journalism or communications a plus.
