Job Information

Job Duties: 

Research: assist staff oral historians prepare research dossiers on interview subjects, includes online, library, and some archival work

Technical: assist staff oral historians with creating videos, podcasts, and brief audio documentaries; students will assist with identifying compelling interview segments and using A/V editing software to prepare edited segments. Possibily of assisting interviewers with videography.

Administrative: assist Oral History Center director and staff with varied administrative duties including but not limited to: copying, on-campus errands, working with basic spreadsheet, etc.

Required Qualifications: 

Excellent English grammar and vocabulary skills, proficiency with MS Word and Excel and with Google software suite, ability to read cursive, ability to work independently and with attention to detail. Willing to learn new technical skills such as audio and video editing programs and videography.

Desired Qualifications: 

Experience working with the Adobe Creative Suite, Hindenberg, and/or Pro-Tools. Comfortable with video and audio-recording equipment. Spanish language skills. Interst in history, interviewering, and/or qualitative research methods. 

Special Notes: 

This job would be a good fit for a student majoring in the humanities or social sciences. We are a small office, and our student worker will work on a variety of tasks, often independently, but occasionally with one of our staff or another student.
