Job Information

Job Duties: 

Working under the direction of the African Studies Librarian, the candidate will assist with the sorting of monographs and serials from African countries, perform pre-order bibliographic checking using a range of online and print resources, assist with the general review of the African Studies collection, and all other library tasks as assigned.

Tasks will be performed in the Doe Library. We are looking someone who can work over the summer as well as next fall.

Required Qualifications: 

Ability to bend, lift boxes of books, and push carts of books as needed

Ability to follow instructions and ask questions when necessary

Punctual

Detail oriented

Basic knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel

Desired Qualifications: 

Reading knowledge of French and/or Portuguese

Experience using library research tools, including familiarity with Oskicat and Melvyl

Knowledge of Library of Congress classification system
